These scissors are ideal for use on small cutting surfaces such as rope, tape, ribbon, thread and cable made from aramid and para-aramid fibers such as Kevlar®, Dyneema®, Vectran®, Spectra®, Technora®, Nomex®, Innegra®, Dacron® and other materials made from fiberglass and carbon fiber.  Its blades are made of high carbon alloy steel from Japan and are infused with Molybdenum and Vanadium (HRC 60~62) through a proprietary manufacturing process to achieve a level of hardness (HV1200) to cut high tech material.  It can also be used to cut materials made from carbon fiber, glass fiber, plastic, canvas, vinyl, leather, suede, leatherette, nylon, silk, cotton, for upholstery, headliner, string or other knitted forms.

To cut composite-grade materials is a very difficult task.  These 5-1/2" shears are meant for precise and clean cuts into the material.  They can be used to make relief cuts during the lay-up process so reinforcements precisely fit in the mold.  Or cut stubborn threads hanging off the edge of fabric.  Or make small cuts for intricate parts.   The cutting performance is great across the length of the blade; in fact, the blades cut all the way to the tips for quick and accurate trimming.  They can also be used to make relief cuts during the lay-up process to fit the reinforcement into the mold.    Also used for splicing all type of halyards, sheets, topping lifts, lazyjacks and control lines.  Cut hanging fibers along the cutting edge of the fabric cleanly.  Cut fiber thread off the fiber optic cable neatly when installing connectors.

Note: Cutting abrasive fibers like fiberglass or carbon will dull these shears for aramid use.  It is advisable to reserve one pair for cutting Kevlar only.

Special Features:
  • Short cutting blade length with fine points lends to accurate cuts on intricate parts

  • Tool of choice for fiber cable installers, fiber cable termination and repetitively cut Kevlar strengthener from fiber cables

  • Micro-serrated blade to grip material for non-slip cut

  • Sharp blade to shear material easily

  • Small size gives more control for trimming and detailing

  • Non-serrated blade can be sharpened to extend life

  • Extended tang for durability and efficient force transfer

  • Adjustable pivot point to modify blades tension

  • Thermo-plastic elastomer handles for a comfortable non-slip grip

  • Ambidextrous

Applications:
  • Recreational marine (high mass fiber weaves, thin ropes, trimming)
  • Commercial marine (Dyneema / Vectran / Spectra lines)

  • Electrical (data cables, controls, insulation, felt)

  • Aviation (fiberglass, carbon fiber and shaping prepregs)

  • Avionics (fiber cable, Kevlar shields)

  • Security (helmets, body armor, ballistic fabric, panels, gloves, jackets)

  • Upholstery (leather, leatherette, edge trimming)

  • Arts and Crafts

These snips are great for electrical wiring. Another guy at work used them and ordered one for himself. These will cut through about anything, within reason. Our electrical supplier brought in another brand but these scissors have been holding up really well in four months.

Great pair of shears
Working for a telecomm company I worked with regular phone wires and used the company provided shears. We have changed focus rather quickly to fiber-optics. The old shears just did not do the job until I started using a sharp knife, it wasted lot of cable. A co-worker got these pair; I tried them and bought one for myself. They're a godsend for cutting Kevlar off fiber-optic cable. I wish they would become standard issue within my company. I love 'em !!

Ideal for Kevlar cord
For our small business we cut 1/8 inch thick kevlar cord with these shears and a single cut is all that is needed to cleanly separate this tough cord. Better than a box cutter and several strokes. In six months they have retained their sharpness and have not required sharpening.

Cut Kevlar cord EASY
I have been using these shears for about two months to cut 1/8 inch thick Kevlar cord with them and it cuts cleanly every time. Good bye box cutter. After considerable use the shears still seem sharp.

Cuts all kind of material
I am truly amazed at the quality of these shears at this price. For a computer tech it is important for making quick work of zip ties and such. I have previously been quite satisfied with another brand which was more expensive but these work much better and I think they will last longer. I prefer the micro-serrations as well as it seems it can cut a straighter line. You cannot really go wrong with these and the price is right for what it can do.

Best Shears
Best thing I have found for cutting out the weed barrier in landscaping -- some of it is plastic and some is cloth. I ordered two sizes of these fiber optic shears.

Absolutely amazing!
These work great on Kevlar thread and webbing. Cuts like ordinary scissor would cut cotton thread. I bought the 8Ó for use on webbing. Never had shears like these ones. Thanks.

Great snips, fair price
These are about the size of standard electrician's snips, but a lot more durable than any snips I've used before. The handles fit OK, not the best but they do a great job for me cutting through all sort of materials like PLR, zip ties, mule tape and other. Great snips for comm work at a fair price. I told my buddies about them.

Great to work with!
Use them daily to cut Kevlar string and very heavy webbing. Wow, how it easy it has made our work. And not really expensive either; very reasonable in fact. Well worth it.

The absolute best - period
These are truly the sharpest and efficient shears I have ever used. I know my shear and I am constantly searching for the right set that I will use for as long as there is no better one in its category. I have bought many shears for cutting various size cables including Cat 56A and RG11 and this one is the absolute best I have found yet.
